Finally someone comes out on our side. Enough of the double speak Mr. Malloy! You say it is not your job to explain this deal, well quite frankly it is you are the leader of this state and you have already said that everything is on the table correct? Well Mr. Malloy this deal would have and still could pass with some clarification and meaningful solutions to the questions the workers have, not just sound bite answers and one liners in the press. If this issue about sustinet is what you say then why not clear it up with a written guarantee? Instead you have your Lt. Governor come out with an email saying that you don't like sustinet and would veto anything bill with sustinet in it, well you did not because a version of sustinet was passed into law a few weeks back. People do read Mr. Malloy and we do pay attention. Everyone I speak with has no problem with paying more for insurance or healthcare, or going without raises for multiple years. In fact most people say they would start paying for the additional costs now not in year three of the contract like you proposed. If there is a written guarantee on the insurance I believe you would get your yes vote. The easiest and best solution is right in front of you, stop stamping your foot and threatening everyone it isn't working. Most of us work in an environment where we are threatened everyday by the states most dangerous fellons and quite frankly we don't respond well to your threats or anyone else's, because that is what we are paid to deal with and we do it without complaint because that is what we signed up for. We are just asking for what we signed up for.
As far as the taxpayers are concerned they would be sick if they really knew how the state wastes money, because the last time I checked there is a deduction from my check to the state for taxes as well, so I guess that makes me a tax payer to. So we will gladly help in these times with givebacks, and all the tax increases that have been imposed on the state. As well as the massive expansions of Uconn and the bus and train projects, money that we don't have. We just need some assurances on this deal before we sign. We all know that a ten year deal is not a ten year deal you will be back for more.
So Mr. Malloy step up and be the leader we elected you to be and clear this up. Being a leader isn't about demanding respect and being right about everything. It's about doing what is right and in the best interest of everyone.
