Inmate Gets Five More Years In Prison Assault

An inmate was sentenced Friday to five more years in prison for a 2009 attack on two correction officers at Northern Correctional Institution in Somers.
Francis Anderson, 41, was given a five-year sentence for each of two charges of assault of a public safety officer. The sentences are to run concurrently, but in addition to the five-year sentence he is serving for burglary.
According to the warrant for his arrest, the attack happened on Sept. 30, 2009. Anderson charged one correction officer as he opened his cell door and punched him in the face, it states. A second officer who rushed to help also was punched.
