Inmate Who Attacked Corrections Officer Pleads Guilty

Robin Elliott will serve an additional 15 years for assault of officer Peter Kuhlmann.

Elliott, 58, was already incarcerated for first degree unlawful restraint and was serving a sentence that carried a maximum of 70 years. He had an estimated release date of March 3, 2047 and a maximum release date of May 16, 2061.
In December 2009, Kuhlmann was attacked by Elliott who was allegedly "having a bad day." Kuhlmann had his throat slashed and was helped by the quick thinking and actions of fellow corrections officer Michael Whitehead.
In November 2010, Whitehead was awarded with the Connecticut Department of Corrections Medal of Valor.

Funny, after seeing the cost saving measures of decreasing the inmate population in the Department of Correction through parole programs, as the population decreased in the state we see a record number of shootings/murders in Hartford and New Haven, robberies assaults,etc.. We tried this let them out philosophy in the early 90's . Did we learn anything? Makes you wonder why the new Commisssioner is already on pension; when the finger of blame is pointed, he can just duck out. I am dumbfounded why the media has not matched the uptick in violent crimes with the thousands let out on parole
